Valkas was an unusual dwarf. Few dwarves follow the calling to become wizards, but Valkas was enthusiastic about it. He was attracted as a moth to the flame…literally. Fire is Valkas’s one true passion.
Valkas was killed by a vampire at one point, and his penny pinching companions opted to reincarnate him, rather than pay for a resurrection. They, of course, have excuses why ressurection was not a viable option at the time. He came back as a half-elf. He has been such ever since. His dwarven life is but a distant memory, although he does occassionally lapse into dwarven when speaking aloud to himself, and his spellbook uses the dwarven runes common to the followers of the dwarven brand of arcana that he originally learned.
Since his reincarnation, he has been at death’s door on a number of occassions, but come through alive. This has earned him the nickname the ‘immortal half-elf’ amongst his companions.
